Thai Studies Course For International Students
Type 1
Thai Language Training for International Students in Preparation for Higher Education Admission
International students who seek education in any degree program are required to take a Thai Training course provided by UBRU. The language course is a prerequisite for any international student. It lasts 720 hours and focuses on four language skills; listening, speaking, reading, and writing. After the completion of the course, the international students are required to pass the language proficiency test by scoring not less than 70% of the total. At the end of the course, the successful students will be awarded UBRU's language proficiency certificate to verify that they meet the standard of regular study.
However, any student with excellent language proficiency, evidenced by a language training certificate of not less than 700 hours from any state-run school in Thailand, can request for a Test of Thai as a Foreign Language (TTFL) in order to verify their language proficiency prior to applying for enrolment.
Type 2
Thai Language for General Visitors and Fellow Students
The Thai language training course is also provided for general overseas visitors and fellow students who wish to take a short course in the Thai language. The training program focuses on the student's career and communication purposes. After completion of the course, the students will be certified for proficiency by the University.
N.B. The above condition for international students does not apply if English is your first language and you wish to study for a BA in the Business English programme.
